Located in the heart of downtown Baie-Comeau, near the cycling network, our new office comes to life in a building with a rich history.
Responsible design rooted in the territory
In line with its environmental values, STGM chose to acquire, reuse, and renovate an existing building, significantly reducing the environmental impact of setting up a new workplace.
By applying the principles of circular economy, our firm contributes to preserving natural resources, reducing GHG emissions linked to material extraction, manufacturing, and transportation, and minimizing construction waste.
A healthy, open, and collaborative workplace
The interior layout was designed to offer a healthy, welcoming, and inspiring work environment. From the entrance, open and bright spaces warmly greet team members and visitors. The ground floor, with its large windows, fosters a connection with the street and the community, while the basement houses support areas designed to encourage creativity and well-being.
The office is open, luminous, and collaborative, reflecting our local engagement. Several strategies were implemented to ensure optimal indoor air quality, including the use of low-emission materials, preventive measures during construction, air purging, and pre-occupancy air quality testing to validate the effectiveness of these approaches.
Nature-inspired design
Biophilic design guided many of the project’s choices: color palettes inspired by regional landscapes, the planting of an indoor tree, and the use of natural materials such as wood throughout the interior spaces.
A symbolic gesture highlights our local roots—a block of stone extracted from a regional quarry, transformed into a table base, embodies our connection to the land.
This project marks a key milestone for our team: establishing a presence in Northern Québec with a proximity-based approach and deep respect for the territory.
These new offices express STGM’s vision: a responsible design in harmony with the territory and community, that values existing resources and contributes to the well-being of its occupants.
