Serving the student community, today and tomorrow
An engaged design in service of collective, sustainable, and accessible student living.
Interior design aligned with a social mission
The interior layout of L’Ardoise directly reflects UTILE’s mission: to provide affordable, sustainable, and collective living environments for the student community. STGM designed spaces that embody this vision by emphasizing transparency, flexibility, and conviviality.
Designing for collective living
The shared space, bathed in natural light thanks to curtain walls, embodies the idea of a welcoming, accessible, and vibrant place. A variety of furniture — lounge chairs, round tables, stools — allows for flexible use, encouraging spontaneous interactions, group study, or quiet relaxation. This adaptability illustrates UTILE’s commitment to creating inclusive and stimulating environments.
A human-scale work environment
The administrative offices were designed to support a collaborative and mission-driven organization. Generous natural light, glazed partitions, and sit-stand desks create a healthy, open, and adaptable workspace. The use of green — echoing UTILE’s visual identity — evokes biophilia and strengthens the connection to nature, subtly reinforcing the organization’s environmental values.
A shared space designed for the student community
Located on the ground floor, the common area was conceived as a true gathering place. Custom furniture, including a large L-shaped lounge seat, invites relaxation and informal exchanges. Round tables with built-in power outlets support collaborative work, while high tables near the windows benefit from abundant daylight. A kitchenette and projection system complete the layout, creating a versatile and lively environment.
A space that embodies its values
By opting for a design that is understated, warm, and functional, STGM helped shape a living environment that goes beyond basic utility. These spaces become tangible tools for strengthening social ties, supporting UTILE’s mission, and offering the student community a dignified, engaging, and sustainable place to live and work.
