Keeping heritage alive through thoughtful design
Preserving heritage means keeping it alive — allowing people to live in it comfortably, respectfully, and beautifully. Built in 1945, this Île d’Orléans residence was expanded and renovated with great care to highlight its distinctive architectural character while adapting it to contemporary life.
Restoring clarity and balance
The home’s cross-shaped floor plan, a rare feature of its time, was brought back to light by removing later additions that had obscured its original composition. A new, symmetrical rear extension was designed to open the living spaces toward the exceptional surrounding views, enhancing the home’s connection to its landscape.
A dialogue between heritage and modern living
Inside, STGM’s interior design team blended tradition and modern comfort in a cohesive, inviting, and timeless atmosphere. Natural materials, soft colors, and refined detailing bring warmth and coherence to every space.
A project shaped by passion and perseverance
Driven by their commitment and vision, the owners overcame numerous heritage-related challenges to bring this project to life. The result is a restored residence that regains its original charm and dignity, ensuring its legacy for generations to come.
This home once again contributes to the collective beauty and vitality of the Île d’Orléans community — a living example of how preserving heritage also means living it.
