An emblematic landmark at the heart of Québec’s history
Between 1901 and 1903, the Manoir Price emerged as a powerful symbol of Québec’s history. First the residence of Maurice Price, then the headquarters of the Union Nationale Party and the Club Renaissance, it would later become the well-known nightclub Chez Maurice.
Transforming memory into a contemporary experience
STGM has transformed this memory-filled site into a boutique hotel where past and modernity converge.
Inspired by the Roaring Twenties, Hôtel Maurice blends the elegance of Art Deco with the restraint of the Prohibition era.
The design highlights refined spaces, including a cigar bar and a discreet speakeasy, Le Charlotte, accessible directly from the kitchen.
Revealing the potential of a constrained building
The architectural challenges—most notably low ceilings and limited volumes—led to an ingenious design response.
The team focused on verticality, light, and locally crafted furniture to create fluid, comfortable spaces. Noble materials and custom finishes pay tribute to local craftsmanship while enhancing the building’s authentic character.
An atmosphere inspired by the the Roaring Twenties
The ambiance draws from the opulence of the 1920s: marble, veined wood, brushed metals, and deep velvets come together in a palette of emerald, burgundy, and gold. Each space reflects the meeting of heritage and contemporary design, offering an experience that is both intimate and timeless.
