A major project for Québec

With its 180 cells, the new Roberval detention facility stands as one of the largest in the province. Its design embodies a rigorous and innovative approach, where every architectural decision responds to complex challenges, balancing security, dignity, and sustainability.

Integrated security and optimal operations

Security, a fundamental pillar of any correctional facility, guided every stage of the project. The layout of spaces was meticulously designed to prevent risks while ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This rigor guarantees a stable, functional environment for everyone who uses and works within the facility.

A living environment focused on rehabilitation

In accordance with Québec’s Correctional System Act, social rehabilitation is at the heart of the project. Providing a respectful and stimulating living environment for incarcerated individuals is a priority. Access to natural light and views to the outdoors, particularly through the integration of skylights in the detention wings, helps create a more humane environment that supports rehabilitation.

Bold and sustainable architecture

The project received LEED Certification, an ambitious goal for a facility of this nature. The integration of a large geothermal field demonstrates a strong commitment to reducing the building’s environmental footprint. The architectural treatment of the pavilions favors noble and unexpected materials within a correctional context, bringing a sense of lightness and distinction to the overall design.
