Located along the edge of a cliff in Québec City, this single-family residence is built on the foundations of a former house that once occupied the site. Zoning regulations prohibiting any expansion of the building footprint led to a design strategy based on cantilevered volumes, allowing the living area to expand while preserving the original foundation.

The project is shaped by its privileged relationship with the landscape. Living spaces are oriented south to frame sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River, while the bedrooms, located to the north, feature a more restrained and intimate fenestration.

The architecture expresses itself through a dialogue between light wood volumes and dark masonry. This contrast articulates the composition and gives the house a strong architectural presence, both on the entrance façade and on the river-facing side.
