Projects / Québec Grand Marché kiosks

Heritage and innovation

Since its beginnings in 1910, Québec’s public market has evolved alongside the city itself — moving, transforming, and eventually becoming the Grand Marché de Québec in 2019. Today, this emblematic site at ExpoCité embodies a contemporary vision of the traditional market, where heritage and innovation come together.

In this spirit, STGM designed eight custom-built kiosks, each conceived as a living showcase of local businesses and craftsmanship. The goal: to create functional, aesthetic, and sustainable spaces that highlight products while offering an immersive customer experience.

The Délices de la mer fishmonger’s kiosk exemplifies this approach. In collaboration with a Gaspé cabinetmaker, the design combines artisanal skill and contemporary elegance — the blue-tinted wood evokes the sea and creates a refined, welcoming atmosphere.

At Laiterie Charlevoix, inspiration comes from the family farm in Baie-Saint-Paul. Whitewashed wood slats, vintage lighting, and bright displays preserve authenticity while embracing modern design.

For Tomates Demers, natural materials such as wood and metal express the company’s agricultural roots, while slate boards and rustic shelving invite visitors to explore locally grown varieties.

Finally, Boucherie Florent & Fils offers a cultural dialogue between Québec and Europe. Its structured yet warm design showcases local products within a space that celebrates craftsmanship and circular economy.

Each kiosk tells a unique story — together, they create a coherent, sustainable, and inspiring journey through the Grand Marché de Québec.
