A Major Sports and Community Facility

Spanning 8,500 m², the new Mégantic Sports Centre brings together a wide range of facilities designed to serve the entire community. Two swimming pools—a certified semi-Olympic lap pool and a leisure pool with a gradual-entry beach and water features—are complemented by a double gymnasium, a 750-seat arena, a bowling alley, and multiple flexible-use spaces. The building also includes a welcoming lobby, exhibition areas, modular meeting rooms, and a full food service offering.

A Bright, Accessible and Welcoming Hub

More than a sports complex, the project stands as a true community hub. Generous, naturally lit spaces foster social interaction, events, and collective experiences. Careful planning has created a fluid and intuitive environment where each component contributes to a cohesive and welcoming user experience.

Celebrating Local Resources and Expertise

The project highlights regional craftsmanship through the use of locally sourced materials, including cedar siding and granite. A mixed wood-steel structural system further reinforces this connection to place. In addition, heat recovery from refrigeration, dehumidification, and air conditioning systems is used to meet the building’s heating needs, reflecting a strong commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
