Located in the former SEARS building at Place Fleur de Lys, constructed in 1963, this emblematic Québec City landmark has regained its character through an architectural transformation that honors its heritage.

The intervention modernized the building envelope, including the complete replacement of the windows and full code upgrades. A new marquee now highlights the entrance to the university pavilion, affirming its renewed educational purpose at the heart of the neighborhood.

A space dedicated to education and community

Designed to welcome several thousand students, UQTR’s new campus offers modern, streamlined, and user-friendly facilities. The interior layout is organized around three main space typologies: collaboration zones, teaching rooms, and faculty offices.

Each space was conceived with careful attention to its function, atmosphere, and ergonomics, supporting both the professional and personal development of the university community. The design reinforces specific uses while ensuring a coherent, unified environment.

Light as a vector of well-being

One of the guiding principles of the project was to maximize natural light. Through a thoughtful reconfiguration of the volumes and the integration of skylights, the new spaces benefit from abundant daylight that supports concentration, learning, and occupant comfort.

This architectural choice helps create a healthy and stimulating environment, fully aligned with the values of sustainability and quality of life promoted by UQTR and by our team.
