Inaugurated in June 2022, the underground garage dedicated to the storage and maintenance of Azur trains at Côte-Vertu Station represents a major advancement for the Orange Line transit network. This infrastructure makes it possible to add trains and increase service frequency during peak hours, responding to growing ridership on the line and supporting the expansion of service associated with the Blue Line extension.

Surface buildings

Three surface-level buildings provide access to the garage and support its operations:

The main building, three storeys high, is located directly above the garage. It serves as the primary access point for employees and houses mechanical rooms.

The two auxiliary structures function as emergency exits and provide access to a mechanical ventilation station.

The garage, built almost entirely underground, includes ten tracks for the storage and maintenance of metro trainsets. The three surface buildings facilitate access to and operation of this underground infrastructure.

Contribution of the architecture team

The architectural consortium, composed of STGM, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte, and Bisson Fortin, was involved throughout the project. Their work included the design of access points, technical spaces, work and rest areas, as well as the detailing of hardware and metalwork, all of which are essential to the proper functioning of the garage.

The project received Envision Platinum certification for sustainable infrastructure, a first in Canada for a public transit project.
