The Desjardins Pavilion at Parc Nature de Pointe-aux-Outardes embodies a vision that is both respectful and forward-looking. Designed as a year-round welcome and interpretation space, it celebrates the memory of the land while offering an immersive experience rooted in sustainability. Its architecture draws inspiration from the traditional buildings of Pointe-aux-Outardes — a long, refined wooden volume punctuated by generous openings onto the landscape and topped with a classic dual-pitch roof.

Facing the St. Lawrence River, the main façade features a large glass wall that naturally guides visitors toward a bright and inviting entrance. The covered stair and ramp ensure universal accessibility while enhancing the building’s architectural expression.

Built from local and enduring materials, including Québec wood and aluminum, the project reflects a clear intent to minimize its environmental footprint. Every design decision aligns with a coherent approach that respects both the ecosystem and the natural heritage of the site.

Inside, the pavilion offers a space for discovery and connection: exhibitions, historical videos, an interpretation hall, and a local boutique. These areas highlight the Manicouagan Marine Protected Area and foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

Born of collaboration, the Desjardins Pavilion stands as a cultural and environmental landmark — a space where memory, innovation, and sustainability come together to shape a meaningful presence on the Côte-Nord.
