A stay in New York, between innovation and inspiration
April 28, 2026
On the occasion of LEDucation in New York, we had the opportunity to explore three floors of exhibitors and speakers entirely dedicated to the world of lighting. Hundreds of manufacturers from around the globe showcased their latest innovations, particularly in smart lighting, architectural lighting, sustainability, and design.

Among the many discoveries, certain ultra-compact recessed fixtures (1.5”) stood out. Despite their discreet presence, they deliver performance comparable to larger models, while reducing glare and minimizing their visual impact on the ceiling. A simple, efficient, and comfortable approach for users.

We also paid close attention to innovative manufacturing approaches, particularly lighting fixtures 3D-printed from recycled plastic. This method opens up promising avenues for reducing the environmental footprint of luminaires by focusing on material reuse and more responsible production processes.

This visit also deepened our reflection on the durability of lighting fixtures. We observed that the first components to require replacement are often the driver and the light source. This highlights the importance of specifying fixtures designed to allow these parts to be replaced, rather than replacing the entire unit.

At STGM, these kinds of insights directly inform the way we design and specify, with care, responsibility, and a focus on the user experience.
An inspiring and enriching visit, full of ideas for what comes next.
