Nestled at the foot of Mount Orford, in the town of Eastman, Pierre Nadeau tirelessly pursues his work as a blacksmith and devotes himself, among other things, to the restoration of forged heritage elements.
Deeply committed to craftsmanship carried out with care and intention, Pierre collaborated with STGM on the LHN project at the Manoir Louis-Joseph-Papineau in Montebello from 2020 to 2022. He is currently completing interventions at the Bâtiments des Nouvelles-Casernes in Québec City, where STGM has been involved since 2015. Forge 710, founded by Pierre, operates almost as a standalone practice in Québec. He is keen to distinguish forging—the shaping of red-hot metal using hammer and anvil—from metalworking, which involves cold metal processes such as electric welding, abrasive shaping, riveting, crimping, and mechanical fastening.
Pierre Nadeau approaches his work and collaborations with the same mindset as our heritage team: ensuring a thorough understanding of the foundations of each project from the outset. For every intervention, he carefully identifies the metals originally used 100 or 200 years ago and studies the historical fabrication techniques in order to restore entrusted pieces with the utmost respect.
A practice rooted in respect for past craftsmanship, with a focus on ensuring the longevity of both material and gesture—this is what truly sets Pierre Nadeau apart.
